The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Government of India, inaugurated the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
This is the world’s first and only global-level centre dedicated entirely to traditional medicine systems, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and natural therapies.
The centre aims to:
- Promote global research on Ayurveda
- Standardize safety & quality protocols
- Support international collaborations
- Integrate traditional medicine with modern healthcare
- Develop evidence-based policies
This historic milestone reflects India’s leadership in Ayurveda and opens pathways for global academic exchange and clinical collaborations among institutions, including Ayurvedic colleges across the country.
